Project Overview

The Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Hyderabad, spanning approximately 158 kilometers, required a highly efficient and automated irrigation system to maintain the greenery along this vast infrastructure. Uniconverge Technologies was chosen to develop a cutting-edge solution that would optimize water usage, reduce manual intervention, and provide real-time monitoring across the entire stretch.

Challenges and Objectives

  • Vast Area Coverage: Managing irrigation over a 158 km stretch required a reliable, remote-controlled system.
  • Efficient Water Management: The need to prevent water wastage and ensure adequate irrigation was crucial.
  • Remote Monitoring and Control: A scalable solution was needed to control valves, motors, and sensors from a central control room.

Our Solution

LoRaWAN Network for Valve Control

We implemented a robust LoRaWAN network to remotely control irrigation valves across the 158 km stretch, ensuring precise water distribution.

Sensor Integration via LoRa and RS485

Sensors, including flow meters, pressure sensors, and level sensors, were integrated using LoRaWAN and RS485 protocols to provide real-time data on water flow and pressure.

4G Backend Connectivity

A 4G backend was used to ensure seamless data transfer between irrigation points and the central control room, enabling real-time monitoring.

Time-Based and Volumetric Irrigation

The system supported both time-based and volumetric irrigation, optimizing water usage based on predetermined schedules or the required volume.

Advanced Monitoring and Analysis

  • Leakage Detection: The system’s leakage detection capabilities minimized water loss by alerting the control room of any leaks.
  • Water Consumption Analysis: Data-driven insights allowed for informed water management decisions, ensuring efficient irrigation.
  • Report Generation: Regular reports on irrigation activities and system performance provided valuable insights for proactive maintenance.
